Athletes check in and Official race numbers:

Athletes check in will be open at the Cross Recreation Centre from 9:00 am on Saturday 12 October for athletes to pick up their official race numbers.


Official race numbers will also be available for collection from Cross Recreation Centre, during business hours, the week of the event (from Monday 7 October).

Entries close Wednesday 9 October. Please note, there will be no registrations available on the day.


Parking:

Please refrain from parking on Glasgow Street, parking will be available in the Cross Recreation Centre carpark, located on the Riverside Reserve side of the Centre.  


Transport to the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon start area:

Provided transport will take athletes to the start area of the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon event departing from the carpark at 10:00 am sharp.  All other events will start from the sports field in front of the Cross Recreation Centre. 


Half Marathon gear drop off:

Containers will be provided at the start area of the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon for athletes to place personal belongings which will be transported back to the Cross Recreation Centre for collection from the Morgan O'Shea finish line.


Pre-race briefing:

Briefings will take place at the start area prior to each event.  Please ensure that you are always aware of other competitors, and please allow them room to pass if required.


Drink stations:

There will be water aid stations situated along the course of the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon, as well as at the event finish area. 


Plastic cups will be available.  Athletes are encouraged to bring reusable cups, hydration packs or water bottles to support the Events being environmentally friendly.


Please note:  There will not be any drink stations available throughout the course for the McElrea Electrical 10km, Calder Stewart 5km and Fairview Family Fun Run Events.


Toilets/Showers:

Portable toilets will be available at the start area of the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon and again at approximately halfway. There will be toilets and showers available within the Cross Recreation Centre facility.


Distance markers:

Signage located on the roadside will display the distance completed for the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon event only.


Road conditions & Balclutha Bridge crossing:

All roads/streets will be open to all traffic.  All athletes must keep to the RIGHT-HAND side of the road and must always be within 1 metre of the curb/roadside.  As athletes reach the Balclutha Bridge, there will be race marshals providing directions to the track which travels under the bridge and up on to the east side of the bridge.


First-Aid:

Hato Hone St John Balclutha will provide First-Aid on the day for athletes.


Change facilities & toilets:

Changing room facilities, including showers, family rooms and toilets, will be available within the Cross Recreation Centre.


Results:

Preliminary results will be available as soon as possible prior to and for prizegiving. Athletes will be emailed the results once they are finalised, and they will be posted on the

Cross Recreation Centre website www.crossrecreationcentre.co.nz and the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon Event Facebook page.


Prizegiving:

Will be held at 2:15 pm inside the Cross Recreation Centre.  


Race rules:

  • iPods and headphones usage are prohibited during all events
  • No dogs are allowed on the courses
  • The walking event is for walkers, anyone deemed to be running will be disqualified
  • Athlete race numbers must always be visible
  • Race officials reserve the right to remove athletes showing signs of distress during the events
  • Athletes in the McElrea Electrical 10km, Calder Stewart 5km Events who are under 13 years of age on event day must always be accompanied by an adult while on the course
  • Athletes in the Cross Recreation Centre Balclutha Half Marathon event must be 16 years of age and older on race day
  • Prams and wheelchairs are permitted on the McElrea Electrical 10km, Calder Stewart 5km and Fairview Family Fun Run courses.
  • REMINDER:  Athletes must keep to RIGHT-HAND side of the road/street and always be within 1metre of the curb/roadside.
